Great stuff

This is seriously the only kind of shampoo that I use that doesn't make my scalp itch.

Doesn't work for my hair

Sadly, this shampoo and conditioner didn't work for my hair. It made it kind of straight and heavy but also feathery when normally it's wavy? I'll have to stick with Earthling Co and I wish I would have bought one of the sample packs first.

HiBAR

Amanda, we're so sorry to hear the bars didn't work for your hair. The Soothe set works best on problematic hair/scalps with itching, dandruff, or conditions like seborrheic dermatitis. If you have normal, wavy hair I would recommend Volumize instead. Please let me know if you would be interested in trying a replacement, and feel free to reach out directly!

Scalp Felt Great but Then Hair Thinned...

This review is for the Soothe Shampoo (not Hibar overall). I have been loving Hibar for years using their Moisture and Maintain lines and was excited to give the Soothe Shampoo a try. After each wash, my scalp felt great but then as my hair dried, it started to fall out (evenly dispersed throughout my scalp) - enough to be noticeable. Usually, I would mainly lose some hair while showering then not really once it dried. So it was obviously different. I thought this would only happen the first few washes, but it continued every time. After a month (2-3 washes/week) I stopped and switched back to the Moisture Shampoo and my hair no longer fell out easily once it dried. There were no changes in stress, nutrition, etc. at the same time that could have influenced the hair loss response, and since it no longer happened immediately after switching away from Soothe I am confident the Shampoo is the culprit. I will continue to use the other Hibar lines but wanted to write this review (this is the first I have ever written!) just to warn others about this potential since it appears to have lasting impacts for me and I am only in my mid-20s. For reference, prior to using Soothe I could only loop a new hairtie twice for a ponytail because my hair was so thick and immediately after the month of using Soothe I needed 3-4 loops with same brand new hairtie. It has been almost 4 months since using Soothe and my hair is still very thinned.

Overall, keep supporting Hibar but do not go as long as…

Great for scalp!

“Soothe” Is the only shampoo you need for seasonal scalp changes. It lasts me about 2 months and I’m a daily shampoo gal and regular exerciser. It’s gentle enough for daily use and keeps my scalp balanced and clean.

  • Q: Does it lather?

A: Yes! Apply HiBAR shampoo directly to your very wet hair, massaging into your scalp and roots until you feel a good lather. (Remember, lathering is not really a measure of how a shampoo is working.) Rinse thoroughly.

  • Q: How long does one HiBAR last?

A: It really depends on the length and thickness of your hair and how often you wash. We like to be conservative on this, rather than overpromise, so we say that a HiBAR shampoo bar lasts AT LEAST as long as a 16oz bottle, and our conditioners last as long as two 16 oz bottles.

  • Q: Is HIBAR natural?

Yes, we're using almost entirely plant-based ingredients. We're all about getting rid of nasty chemicals. Plus, we hope to one day be accepted into the most demanding natural stores and co-ops, and so we're formulating our products with that happy far-off day in mind.

  • Q: What does HiBAR smell like?

We use a blend of essential oils and other plant based ingredients to give HiBAR a gentle citrus aroma. It's just enough to give your shower a refreshing feel, but not so strong that it's going to cling to your hair. NOTE: Because the fragrance is from essential oils, the aroma is strongest when the bar is first removed from the packaging, and will soften as the bar is left out in the open.

  • Q: Will HiBAR turn to mush in my shower?

No, not if you store it correctly, out of standing water, and away from direct spray from the shower.

  • Q: How do I hold HiBAR?

Cup the bottom of the bar in the palm of your hand, rest the long edge against the lengths of your fingers, then use your fingertips to guide the bevelled top through your hair.
