It’s time for change. Instead of one of those old fashioned plastic deodorant tubes, HiBAR Deodorant comes in a uniquely-designed, easy-to-use, 100% recyclable cardboard container. When it’s empty, just pop it in the recycling bin.
Our shipping materials are also either compostable, recyclable or biodegradable, including any packing tape or product protection. To seal the box we use the shipping label. If it arrived in plastic, it did not come from us!

Male, mid 30s, Central Florida - fresh out of a shower it takes me ~ 2 hours before BO starts to become noticeable during a normal day moving around but spending most of the time indoors with AC, I can be a smelly guy. My primary concern is for odor control and I am trying to avoid deodorants in plastic tubes. Thus, among the few options I have available, HiBar ranks as my favorite. I like the fragrance free version, I already use perfumes/colognes regularly and prefer if my cheap deodorant doesn’t overpower them (well, these are not cheap). It does smell a little like a crayon up close but otherwise doesn’t smell and more importantly doesn’t let my pits smell. I’m not averse to aluminum and I’m sensitive to baking soda. So aluminum free deodorants are a usual no from me. But this works as advertised, I don’t smell, never have to re-apply and it doesn’t irritate me.
The price and size was a little concerning, but I trim or shave my underarms during the summer for hygiene purposes. When it’s not getting caked up in your body hair and is just being applied to skin this little tube lasts more than a month. Otherwise, men, expect around 3+ weeks

Smells terrible and does last but a few hours

I love the scent (pink iris) and that it reduces single use plastic. I ended up having to reapply as it didn’t protect against odor as well as I would have hoped. Next time I will try the non-sensitive HiBAR!

For some people, when trying a natural deodorant for the first time there can be an initial detoxing phase while the body expels toxins as it becomes accustomed to the aluminum-free, paraben-free ingredients. Additionally, body chemistry can play a big role in whether a natural deodorant is effective. For some people, certain scents work, while others don’t. We would recommend sticking with it but trying a different fragrance. Please feel free to reach out to customer service for more information.
Yes, but the baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) is less than 5% of the entire formulation. We are also working hard at making a baking soda free version! Stay tuned further into 2023!

Our plastic free deodorant container is made from cardboard and is curbside compostable. They do compost and can be done at home, just like regular compost. But, if you are using the compost dirt to grow food, it’s probably best to use compost material like food scraps and other food grade, food by product material. You can compost our packaging to turn it back to the earth and use it as a filler somewhere.
