    Roll the bar in wet hands to work up a creamy lather and apply to face. Alternately apply the bar directly to wet skin.

Fantastic

I’ve been using the same cleanser for years now and was skeptical my dry lizard skin would accept anything else - but after getting the sampler, the hydrate was definitely my favorite, and I was surprised that the bar held together pretty well until it was almost done. I broke the full size bar in half and keep the half I’m using in a random tin (the other half is in the original package), and it’s been keeping well for me that way. Love eliminating another plastic bottle from my routine!

Does not hydrate!

I live at high altitude, so I am always looking for hydrating face wash. I like the current lotion I use, but was excited about HiBar because of its advantages for travel. I was disappointed—it was very drying compared to my cleansing lotion. It produced a kind of “squeaky clean” result, not unlike Ivory Soap! Bummed.

The bar should not be producing a squeaky clean, since it has moisturizing ingredients and also is a creamy cleanser, rather than a lather than can be more stripping. Our face wash does not contain any soap, since soap has a high pH and can be harmful to skin, but rather our pH matches your skin.

Reformulated and really nice!

I received a free bar of the reformulated Hydrate after leaving a review complaining about the previous version. It's so much better! The bar stays solid and firm, and my skin loves it. There is a faint hint of citrus, and when I first unwrapped the bar it was slightly oily, but it didn't leave an oily or greasy feeling at all. I'm glad to be able to enthusiastically recommend it!

Wow!

I have loved my HiBar shampoo, conditioner, and deodorant for a while now and was excited to try this new face wash. The first night I used it, it felt very nice and smooth. It had a very subtle lather and is unscented, which I liked. The next morning, completely forgetting I had tried something new on my face, I rested my hand on my face and thought, "wow, my skin feels so soft today!", and thought it was just a lucky occurrence or a postpartum glow or something, but have come to realize it is just this face wash making my skin feel as soft as my baby's! I've been using it a couple of weeks now and really love it. It's moisturizing without leaving me oily, I haven't had a single breakout like I'm prone to when changing products, and of course, I love that it is plastic free. Another hit, HiBar! A daily sunscreen moisturizer next?

  • Q: How were these bars formulated? 

    In developing these natural skin care products, we took a high end gentle amino acid-based face wash formula meant for a bottle, meant to be a liquid, and worked with it for over a year to make it a solid bar.

  • Q: Do your face wash bars contain fragrance? 

    No, all 3 facial bars are fragrance-free. Based on our studies we discovered that most users did not want a fragrance in their face washes.

  • Q: What is the pH level of your face wash?

    The pH is between 4.5 and 5.5, matching your skin's pH level.

  • Q: Can I use Renew as a daily face wash?

    Renew is a gentle exfoliating skin care face wash. It is recommended to be used a few times a week, just as you would any exfoliating face wash.

  • Q: Is ALL HiBAR packaging recyclable?

    Yes. In fact it's compostable as well. And we use plant-based inks. Our shipping materials are also either compostable, recyclable or biodegradable, including any packing tape or product protection. If it arrived in plastic, it did not come from us!

  • Q: Is HiBAR compostable?

    Our plastic free deodorant container is made from cardboard and is curbside compostable. They do compost and can be done at home, just like regular compost. But, if you are using the compost dirt to grow food, it’s probably best to use compost material like food scraps and other food grade, food by product material. You can compost our packaging to turn it back to the earth and use it as a filler somewhere.
